1959
Azienda Agricola Fontaleoni was established in 1959, when Giovanni Troiani decided to abandon his sharecropping activity in the austere countryside of the Marches and try his luck in Tuscany.
The discovery of the gently rolling hills around the pretty medieval village of San Gimignano convinced the Troiani family to buy a small farm.
With the passing of the seasons, the estate progressed from subsistence farming based largely on raising livestock, cultivating cereals and fruit plants, to being specialised in the production of wine, the expression of quality of an area with a vocation for the cultivation of Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Sangiovese.
1980
In the early 80s, the explosive and passionate family heir Franco Troiani began working on the estate and Fontaleoni improved the quality of its products and decided to bottle its Chianti for the first time.
Now, of the total 50 hectares, no less than 30 are used for the production of high quality wine, much of which is destined for the international market.
